Summary: When you're finished you'll have 5 AdSets each with 5 ads that are all the same. AdSets vary based on GeoTargeting. You'll roll them out slowly. Get first AdSet setup with 1 ad, then add more ads in that AdSet. Once that has been running you'll duplicate that whole AdSet once. Update the dates and let that run for 24 hours. Then do that 3 more times – but the last batch can be done at once, and simply update dates and cities.

AKA: Leslie refers to this as a cat picture campaign

Step-by-step guide

You are creating image ads, they do not link to any website, and they should be connected to the corresponding Facebook page.

The total process will take a few days because you slowly roll out new ads after the initial ads have been approved.

Process

  • Get 5 images of people or landscapes in your target market - images that you may use with blog posts later. Facebook compliant images.
  • Get 5 avatar-related quotes that do not include any red flags. Here is a good source: https://wisdomquotes.com/

The hope is that the ad will get a few folks to engage, but not stray too far from your business goals.

Day 1

Create 1 New ENGAGEMENT Campaign
Create your 1st AdSet (not all)

Simple Targeting - 3 or 4 more general topics related to your market.

Limit location to a city like Chicago or Tallahassee... I prefer to use major cities

Lifetime budget of $5, Run for 5 Days

In AdSet A - Create 1st Ad post - Ad One. It does not / should not link to your site. Something engageable with a cute phrase or quote. Something you would be 100% sure is within Facebook's Guidelines.

Don't make a meme. The quote can simply be the text above the image. You'll create these in Ads Manager, not as boosted posts on the page.

Allow that first ad to get approved, then wait a day.

Day 2

After the ad has run for 24 hours, In the same AdSet, make 2-4 more ads with different images and quotes.

  • Ad Two
  • Ad Three
  • Ad Four
  • Ad Five

Let the ads get approved and running for at least 24 hours. The ads can all be running at the same time.

If any ad does not get approved. Evaluate for your own knowledge, but don't appeal. Delete the ad and try another ad. If you're careful in the selection, this shouldn't happen.

Day 3

Once AdSet A and Ads One to Five have been running with all the ads for 24 hours, Duplicate the AdSet A to create AdSets B, C, D, & E - the ads will automatically be included.

And update each AdSet to a different major city, update the dates to run for 5 days.

Day 5 - 7 Monitor

Yes, you'll get folks who are not really interested. For this part, that is not important. When finished you have 25 ads that have been approved and your account should have good karma, seasoned, and at least minimally inoculated.
