Using the Vanity URL

BEFORE using the Vanity URL, you must complete the Instablog / Host it For Me Setup first.   Once you have done that and "Saved" the settings, then you can complete the Vanity URL

Follow these instructions for using a full domain for your ResultFlow hosted blog (www.mycoolwebsite.com)

In this video, you'll learn how to use a vanity domain (custom domain) with your ResultFlow Instablog.  The target parameter referenced in the video is shared below.  Please note: no http or trailing slash

ADDITIONAL NOTE not included in the video:  You may also need to add a CNAME record for your www.mycoolwebsite.com to point to mycoolwebsite.com so that both will point to your ResultFlow hosted blog.  CNAME, name is www, target is mycoolwebsite.com.

Prefer Step By Step instructions?  Just follow the guide below?

Click on the site menu, then go to Credentials.

Click Edit.

Enter your domain name in the Vanity URL

Then click Submit.

You will then notice a red exclamation mark. Don’t worry about this, you will need to complete additional steps for the settings to work properly.  Next, you'll use a free third-party service in the middle name Cloudflare.

Go to https://www.cloudflare.com/ If you don't have an account, you'll need to sign up for an account. The sign-up is free.

Once you're signed up, click on +Add Site.

Type in your domain name in the "Enter your site" box.

Click Add Site.

You can choose whatever plan you want to, but we recommend using the Free version. Click Confirm plan.

Now it’s time to connect Cloudflare to Resultflow blog, the Instablog platform.  Click on +Add record.

IMPORTANT - You may see options for SSL or other features - please DO NOT enable those options - only enable the options as indicated. SSL is not currently available for ResultFlow hosted blogs.

Follow these steps exactly.

Type:  chose CNAME.

Name: type @

Target: wordpresselb-697444127.us-east-1.elb.amazonaws.com

Click Save.

Click Continue.

Then you'll need to add a record for your WWW version of your domain.  Click Add Record, for type choose CNAME,  name is www , and target is your rootdomain - mycoolwebsite.com (for example).

Next, you'll need to connect your domain's DNS record to Cloudflare. Login to your registrar and look for domain management, DNS records, or DNS Zone Management. This is where you'll set name servers in your domain.

From Cloudflare, you'll copy the Nameservers as shown in part 1 below.

Next, in your DNS settings, erase what is in there and then paste the new settings into the DNS for your domain.

Click Save.

It can take up to 48 hours before your domain fully propagates. If you make this change near the posting time for your rich summaries that your post for that day may not appear on the blog. We recommend picking a time of the day after your posting to ensure that does not happen.

To check if changes have been made, click Done, check nameservers. (Your domain management may be a bit different, but do accept or submit the changes. )

Back in Cloudflare, check that everything is ok.  Click Done.

Then you should see the correct details.

You can type your domain name into the browser to see if it works, it may take up to 48 hours to fully propagate and work across the web.
