If you will be using a Sub-Domain please click here for Sub-Domain instructions

Using the Vanity URL

BEFORE using the Vanity URL, you must complete the Instablog / Host it For Me Setup first.   Once you have done that and "Saved" the settings, then you can complete the Vanity URL

Follow these instructions for using a full domain for your ResultFlow hosted blog (mycoolwebsite.com and www.mycoolwebsite.com)

In this video, you'll learn how to use a vanity domain (custom domain) with your ResultFlow Instablog.  The target parameter referenced in the video is shared below.  Please note: no http or trailing slash

parameter
wordpresselb2-1382721433.us-east-1.elb.amazonaws.com

Prefer Step By Step instructions?  Just follow the guide below?

Go to your persona.  In this example, it is developing1.com

Go to the hamburger menuCredentials.  Click Edit on Blog.

Login to your registrar and look for domain management, DNS records, or DNS Zone Management. This is where you'll set name servers in your domain.  Copy your domain name from your registrar, for example developing1.com

Go back to Resultflow, paste it in the Vanity Domain field.

Mark check on SSL.

Click Update.  Keep this window open.

Go to https://www.cloudflare.com.  If you don't have an account, you'll need to sign up for an account. The sign-up is free.

Once you're signed up, click on +Add Site.

Paste your domain name in Enter your site: field.  Then click +Add Site.

Click on the bottom box where it says Free $0.  Then click Continue.

Delete all of these.  Click on Delete then click delete to confirm.  On the last item, click Edit, then click Delete.  Then click delete to confirm.

You'll copy the Nameservers in Cloudflare.  Click on the Cloudfare icon.

Choose the site that you’ve added, in this example, developing1.com

Click on the Click to copy, to copy the name server 1.  You put the name server in your registrar so that your registrar will be using cloudflare instead of its own.

On your registrar’s DNS settings, erase what is in there and then paste the new settings into the DNS for your domain.

Do the same for Nameserver 2.  Click on the Click to copy and paste it in your registrar’s DNS settings.  Then Save your changes in your registrar.  Please note that Cloudflare nameservers may be different for you.

In Cloudflare, click on the DNS icon.

Click +Add record.

In Type, choose CNAME.

In Name, type @ for the root or if you are using a subdomain like blog, type blog or whatever you are using.

For Instablog, Target value is all the same. Target is a fixed value:  wordpresselb-697444127.us-east-1.elb.amazonaws.com.

Turn off Proxy.

TTL will be 5 min.

Click Save.

Since we are not doing a subdomain, we also want to have a www as well.  Click +Add Record.

In Type, choose CNAME.

In Name, type www.

Target will be your domain name.  In this example, it is developing1.com.

Turn off proxy.  TTL will be 5 min.  Then click Save.

To use SSL, go to Resultflow.  Copy the SSL Name.

Go back to Cloudfare, click +Add Record.

In Type, choose CNAME.

In Name, paste the SSL Name.

Go back to Resultflow and copy the SSL Value.

In Cloudflare, paste the SSL value in Target.

Turn off proxy.  TTL will be 5 min.  Then click Save.

This is an example of the final setting.  It will look different if you are using a subdomain.  Then all you need to do is wait until your domain fully propagates.

Back in Resultflow, click Close.

The only way to check if it gets done is to go to your site with your non-vanity name.  In this example, it is 36-sites.rfblog.net

When I hit Refresh, it automatically redirects to developing1.com.

And there is a lock icon that says Connection is secure.
